WHATS THIS SONG CALLED?

I heard a song lately, i thinks is a 80s song, and the voice sounds like david bowie. the song is alot of piano but with only two keys being hit at a time. the only lyrics i can remember are the courus were they sing ( i tried, i tried , i tried ) duh duh duh dah. its either i tried or i cried i think . if anyone knows let me know . thanks
