Can I take a meat jerky on a plane?

I'm flying back to Europe and I wanted to take some of the crocodile and kangaroo jerkies they sell at the souvenir shops. I'm vegetarian, but It might be cool thing to bring my parents or friends. I just heard somewhere that you're not allowed to take food on the plane.
