Why do commercial fishermen avoid certain types of mesolpelagic fish?

I know there are maximum size limits that apply to Barramundi in Australia, but what other types are avoided and why? I mean all mesolpelagic fish look a bit scary to me! I wouldn’t want to commercial catch or buy any of them! But I would like to know why some are avoided in particular.
