My mother 70 CAD:TVD,DM,HTN. is there any treatment ?
Triple vessel disease, especially if the patient is diabetic, is usually treated with byp surgery. Another option is angioplasty but this is usually not cost-effective (the price of placing multiple stents is quite prohibitive, and generally the durability of byp grafts are longer). The last option is non-invasive medical management (pills and lifestyle changes only), this can be an option if most of the heart muscle are already scarred, and surgery or angioplasty are not expected to cause any significant improvement in cardiac function. Non-invasive treatment is the only choice for patients not willing to give consent for byp or angioplasty.
