Do I have any control over the way people perceive me? Greatly need your insight!?

I doubt this is your fault; it sounds like your boss is just crazy. Talking to him or someone about it honestly might help, but also could make things worse. If you can't adjust to his weird actions, you may want to seek employment elsewhere. It can be really hard to get along with a boss who doesn't understand you or has ideas that don't make sense to you. If they are criticizing you, try to get them to say specifically what is wrong. Was the project late? Did you break a rule or regulation? If they have no concrete accusation to back them up, it is just their personality problems coming out because they are jealous of you or something. But if you are doing something actually wrong, try to fix it. Otherwise there is not much you can do.
